Imagine that for a moment.

The Vision

Rapt built a digital portal into the soul of Saudi Arabian heritage. The goal was to move beyond simple historical documentation by creating a living digital twin of the At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage site.

This allows a global audience to experience the scale and texture of the "City of Earth". The studio focused on Craft to ensure the work maintains the integrity of the mud-brick architecture and the unique golden light of the region.

The Creation

The process involved a synthesis of data and artistry using high-precision photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning to capture every detail of the district. Rapt built a high-fidelity interactive environment using real-time engines. This translated the physical reality of the site into a sophisticated digital format. The work prioritises sensory details - the way dust hangs in the air and how shadows fall against textured walls.

At the Outernet, this immersion was delivered across three distinct spaces:

The Now Building: A 360-degree, 16K floor-to-ceiling experience where the scale of At-Turaif was reconstructed to wrap around the audience.
Now Trending: An interactive zone where people could engage with specific cultural narratives and deeper details of the digital twin.
Now Arcade: A transitional sensory tunnel that used high-resolution Media to maintain the atmospheric golden hour of Diriyah as people moved through the venue.

The Moment

The impact hits when the audience steps into the digital environment and feels a physical sensation of scale.

People move through historic winding streets and feel the weight of the history surrounding them. This work serves as a permanent cultural record. It allows for an exploration that is both educational and deeply personal, proving the capacity of Rapt to handle projects of immense cultural significance.

Other projects shaped by the same curiosity for emotion and form.

Our team of artists, technologists, designers, and storytellers has built glowing domes in deserts and lit up stages around the world. Yet we still work like we did on day one: curious, experimental, slightly unrestrained. We believe in serious play and creative experiments that leave a mark. If it’s forgettable, it’s not for us (and neither is it for you).
