Imagine that for a moment.

The Vision

Rapt built a digital gateway to explore the collective subconscious. The project asks what a collective dream looks like by gathering a vast range of individual dream experiences.

By analysing these submissions, recurring symbols were identified and brought together to build a narrative journey through the four stages of sleep, concluding in the vivid intensity of rapid eye movement. This work maps the internal architecture of the mind, focusing on how people dream together to create work that resonates on a personal level with every person in the room.

The Creation

This project grew from a residency at the SAT, originally planned before the pandemic, which culminated in a performance for MUTEK Festival 2025.

The show is a collaboration with Harry Yeff, known as YeffYeff (instagram @YEFFYEFF), using over 100 audience-submitted dreams that AI synthesised into a physical reality. Designed specifically for the 210-degree dome at @SAT_Montreal, the work uses meticulous craft to ensure the visuals envelop the audience. The experience tracks the physical sensation of falling in the first stage of sleep, moving deeper into the low frequencies of slow-wave sleep—what Rapt imagines as the death of the dream—before entering the final stage. The focus remains on jagged sensory details: bone-like structures, silver liquids, and the scale of a giant eye watching the crowd.

The Moment

The audience is submerged in the dome for a high-intensity live performance. After a successful run at MUTEK, the show returned to the SAT for six consecutive nights, selling out every performance.

People move through the stages of sleep together, surrounded by rotating cities and giant snakes that react to the live A/V. The experience ends in the surreal intensity of rapid eye movement, where visuals and sound vibrate against the 210-degree surface. This is a physical encounter with the surreal, fusing technology and human storytelling to create total immersion for the audience.

Our team of artists, technologists, designers, and storytellers has built glowing domes in deserts and lit up stages around the world. Yet we still work like we did on day one: curious, experimental, slightly unrestrained. We believe in serious play and creative experiments that leave a mark. If it’s forgettable, it’s not for us (and neither is it for you).
