Imagine that for a moment.

The Vision

Echo is a live interactive installation that bridges the gap between human presence and global atmospheric shifts. Originally presented at the SXSW London Open House on 3rd June 2025, the work turns a simple exhale into a planetary dialogue.

The vision for Echo was to create a moment of pause and reconnection. We wanted to invite people to slow down and find a deeper link with their own breath and the planet. The concept is built on a call-and-response between the body and Earth, making a simple act of awareness visible through digital art. By stating "Exhale once, somewhere on earth, a gust of wind will answer back," we established a narrative where every participant becomes a catalyst for global connection.

The Creation

The studio developed Echo using a blend of custom hardware and advanced AI workflows. We built a bespoke wind sensor inspired by the form of a dandelion to capture the physical input of a participant's breath. This breath triggers a connection to a random location on Earth, pulling live weather data in real-time matching the wind speed of the breath. This data serves as a prompt for an AI image model, which generates a unique 4K digital canvas.

The result is a localised, evolving artwork that is unique to each person’s breath and the current conditions of the planet. The visuals are designed to feel jagged and organic, mimicking the fluid motion of wind and nature. This synthesis of technology and nature reflects our focus on the Interactive and Media capabilities of the studio.

The Moment

The moment of interaction begins when a person leans into the sensor. A single breath causes the large LED screen to ripple and transform, reflecting a live gust of wind from a distant corner of the globe.

The physical reality of the person's breath is met with a high-fidelity visual response that fills the space with colour and movement. It is a brief, intimate encounter that reminds people of their impact on a wider world, leaving a lasting impression through a shared, technologically-mediated experience.

Other projects shaped by the same curiosity for emotion and form.

Our team of artists, technologists, designers, and storytellers has built glowing domes in deserts and lit up stages around the world. Yet we still work like we did on day one: curious, experimental, slightly unrestrained. We believe in serious play and creative experiments that leave a mark. If it’s forgettable, it’s not for us (and neither is it for you).
